Where are you going so late at night?
rolling on and on
Through busy cities and past deserted depots
and all those in-betweens
where we live our lives and do our work
play, sweat, rest, love.

On you go
do you ever notice us
as we watch you
and are frustrated that you dare delay us, as we go...
someplace we need to be
or have to go
or should never go, but do.

rolling on and on
as we live and die and get cold and soft in the hard ground.

Yet you just roll past.
